EMT Eric Monty was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash near Altona, N.Y.
A New York EMT was killed and two other responders were seriously injured in an ambulance crash early Tuesday while transporting a patient.
EMT Eric Monty, 45, with Champlain EMS, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Times of TI.
The ambulance ran off the road as it was headed to CVPH Medical Center.
EMTs Susan Roberts, 52, and Peter Coulombe, 26, were transported to CVPH in serious condition. Officials told reporters one admitted and the other then transferred to Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington with a head injury.
The patient was reported to be stable after the wreck.
The ambulance stationed at the Mooers Fire Department had responded as mutual aid to the Altona Fire District, officials said.
The crash remains under investigation by the New York State Police.
Monty was a member of the Mooers Volunteer Fire Department.
“He was a real good man; a good father,” Mooers Town Supervisor Cory Ross told reporters Tuesday morning.
“It’s just a major loss to our town.”
